You will not want to miss out on the Word Search Game and wonderful projects that will be showcased, not to mention some great RAK Prizes that will be available to you.
My Re-purposed Project I have to share with you is created from an Infant formula container.
First removing the top with a pair of nippers and soaking in hot soapy water to remove the labels.
Next apply a coat of Gesso for some tooth.
With a handful of Scrapbook paper scraps and some help from tutorials on Origami found on the web, I created my flowers.
The end result ... a Valentine Floral Display.
For my container I used Mod Podge and Vintage images that are generously offered free, for all to use in your favorite Projects.
Finishing off with Twine glued along the bottom and top rims for a more finished look.
Using Styrofoam salvaged from packaging that came in boxes delivered to my home .

Inserted into my container to hold my flowers.

Here is a close up of the flowers .
Not having on hand origami paper.
I used Scrapbook paper scraps, a bone folder and ink to make up for the difference.
Wanting my Display to resemble a bouquet one might find delivered on Valentine's Day I found this great tutorial for a heart pocket.
Inserting a Vintage Valentine Image I found on the web as my gift card.
First you must begin with an Origami Square Base fold.
This first video will help you begin with your square base fold.
Now let's move onto creating the heart pocket.

ReplyDeleteJean, that is gorgeous! I'm totally out of the scrappin loop right now so don't count me for the prize but I had to tell you how much I love that bouquet! Great job!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome project! You guys have such wonderful ideas...I need to start using lots of these ideas to help downsize my stashes & to save money on purchases containers to work with.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Valentine activity. For the past ten or more years, I've made Valentine's Day cards to give out to the veterans in local nursing homes. I just called the activity director & asked how many vets they had that were residents after I told them about the project. This started when my daughter was in JROTC & needed a community service project. My daughter is now a MP in the Nat. Guard & I still make cards for the vets as well as soldiers serving overseas. I send the the soldiers as often as possible through Operation Write Home.
This project is amazing!!
ReplyDeletethis is a fab project - thanks for sharing! love the various flowers!

ReplyDeleteYour flower arrangement and container are great! Thanks for all of the wonderful links. My DH and I don't do much for Valentine's Day but he likes to give suggestions on my card swap creations so I was surprised to learn that he had a very strong opinion on the colors I had used on my first try - looks too much like spring...use the softer colors! Ok, if you say so! I love chocolate covered strawberries for Valentine's Day instead of flowers.
ReplyDeleteWow, this is an amazing project! Thanks for sharing the videos on how you made those gorgeous flowers!
ReplyDeleteNow I have another idea of what to do with the left over formula containers! These would be perfect for a baby shower we have coming up for a friend. My favorite Valentine's Day song is an OLD one and pretty corny, but it is the first one that comes to mind when I think of Valentine's Day...I just called to say I love you by Stevie Wonder =)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh Jean, smack me with AMAZING!!! I would rather have this bouquet for Valentine's Day, it'll last FOREVER! Your flowers, the pot, the pocket, everything is just unbelievable! Wowee!!! What a great way to use those scraps too, which appear to have worked just fine. My daughter had an oragami book and the paper is really just about the same as scrapbook paper so why not save a dime and use scraps - very resourceful!!
ReplyDeleteThat is a gorgeous project! Jean ,you always amaze me!!! Great going girl!!!
