It rather denotes a lack of courage."

Crafty fun and a New Challenge Blog

Lately, it seems to me I begin my posts with it has been some time since my last post!
Summer is still in full force here in my neck of the woods.
So hard to stay inside while the sun is still shining :)

Just wanted to share a couple of projects that I have been into when the sun goes down.

A new Challenge Blog out there called "Recipe Card Challenge" looks like it is going to be alot of fun!
They are now looking to put together a Design Team.
If you are interested, there is still time to submit your work for consideration.
They also have a store if you find you are short on supplies Scrapbook Store at your Door.

With requests from my son's wives for their husbands favorite dishes, I hope this will become a favorite book that feeds the soul as well as the body.

My first Recipe layout is one of my favorite Summer Salads.
A hybrid layout created with digital elements from Scrap Artist.com

Also going to use this in the "Summer use your Stash Challenge" hosted on the "Sisterhood of Scrap Forum"

Next is my Christmas in July project, also hosted on the "Sisterhood of Scrap" Forum .
My project is a Christmas Canvas.

Inspired by a button wreath decoration submitted by Ali MacDonald .
I thought it would be a great way to use up some of those buttons I have had sitting around for awhile.

Well that's it for today , hope you all are having a great summer and lots of Crafty fun !!
Thanks for stopping by my World :) .

Welcome Canvas

A little Canvas I have had sitting around for awhile in need of some play time.

Not so sure what I was going to do with it , had an idea here or there.
Settling on my original intent, to make a simple welcome greeting for my kitchen and the season.

With some inspiration from "Create & Decorate" April 2009 Magazine's Pattern Insert.
I used some images that I thought would work well for my project.

Springtime Stationary/ April Showers note card
flower images by Kim Klassen.

Used for the center flowers on my canvas, adding in my own bumble bees to give it a personal touch.

Also inspired by " Backyard Chicks"punch needle image by Whimsey Street Designs for my bird.
Even though the images where meant for an entirely different type of project than mine.
They just seemed to be the inspiration I needed to get started on this canvas.

I like the look of Primitive & Folk Art ,but have never really gave it a try until lately.
I find it to be fun and lighthearted and it also makes a blank canvas look less intimidating,
especially when paints are not my strongest area.
Happy Crafting and thanks for stopping by : )

Couple of Small projects & Embossing tip

Most of my spare time lately has been pretty well planned out for me..but I have been able to squeeze in a few projects here and there.

This little guy is my first attempt at using Coffee for a stain and also creating hooded eyes.
My daughter- in-law thinks he looks like a potato and my husband would not like to run into him on the street...how bad is that !
I figured that maybe he needed a heart with hugs on it and a kiss and a hug to his backside in hopes that somebody feels sorry for his homely little self and dishes him out some love :)
All digital products to create this layout are from Weeds & Wildflowers.

Last of the cards that I have been creating for A Scrap Addict Sketches.
It has been a great time being part of Deanne's Design Team.
I look forward to all the new teams creations.
Thanks Deanne your the best!

Via a request for tip on embossing on my canvas project.

I would suggest for your needs to use a Versa Mark pen the fine tip end..no worries on the tapping off...just turn over and give it a thump with your finger ..should clean off pretty easy.

For a hard back Canvas just give it a tap with your knuckle this should do the trick

Also if stamping on a
stretched and mounted canvas, use your hand on the back of the canvas for support when pressing down stamp for a clean image. Hope this helps :)
Hope all is well in your Crafty World and thanks for stopping by :)

Canvas & Paper Christmas Wall Decoration

Over the summer I came across some 12 X 12 Canvases at Big Lots for $5.00 each and picked up a couple.
Not sure what I would do with them at the time, but thought they might come in handy when the urge struck to try something different.

Using Rangers Alcohol Ink,blender solution and applicator,I colored my canvas to suit the colors of my kitchen.
I found some free primitive art stitching patterns here .

Printed out my template on standard 8 1/2 x 11 paper and proceeded to make a paper piecing pattern for my snowman and bird.

Embossed my snowflakes onto canvas using Versa Mark and brown embossing powder from Close to My Heart added rhinestones for embellishment.

Using a Black marker for my Title and details.

Snowflake Stamps are from Stamping Up Collection.Paper was applied using Mod Podge with some Mod Podge applied randomly sponged on for some shiny dimension.

I picked this pattern to fit into the Monday Challenge this week on the "Sisterhood of Scrap".
Also I really thought he was such a cute little guy ! :)

Thanks for stopping by my little corner of the world, hope you have a crafty day !!
