25 Days of Card Making Challenge

The Sisters are at it again!
Need a push to help get those Holiday Cards  ready?


Starting Monday, November 1st, the DT and Carla and Helen will be posting a daily card challenge, tutorial, or other goodie to challenge you to make 25 cards by the end of the month of November!! A new challenge will be posted every day for 25 days! That is right!! 25 of them! You will have until November 30th to complete them, and upload to the thread the challenge came from! Easy Peasy!!!




It can be Christmas cards, any other type of card, note card, even an ATC!!!

If you don't make cards or such, than you can use the daily challenges for layouts!!!



How it will work is like this...

For every challenge that you do, and Helen will be keeping a close eye on this, your name will go into a hat for a chance to win the grand prize which is donated by Carla!!!



So stay tuned, and get ready for some serious card making!!!

Card Holder and a Little Extra.

Hope you all had fun this past weekend celebrating World Card Making Day!

I was able to fit in a few Card Color Challenges.

 For the Mini Crop over at the "Sisterhood of Scrap"  Forum.

World Card Making Day Crop

Today is World Card Making Day!

Celebration Challenges

Before I ran out of Ink for my photo printer, I was happily creating for my albums.

Inspired by the Blog Celebration challenges posted on Am I a Scrap Addict , I was able to finish a page for my youngest Granddaughter's first year album.

My Granddaughter Sophia, helped put together her Papa's Birthday cake, while they were home for a visit.
My Grandmother's Chocolate Mayo Cake recipe was his Birthday Cake choice.

I included Grandmother Jones Recipe into the layout so that Sophia will have this in her book for future memories to come.
She became fast friends with the little Rag doll I put together over the winter.. made her grandmother very happy : ) For me ...this is what crafting is all about !

Couple of Small projects & Embossing tip

Most of my spare time lately has been pretty well planned out for me..but I have been able to squeeze in a few projects here and there.

This little guy is my first attempt at using Coffee for a stain and also creating hooded eyes.
My daughter- in-law thinks he looks like a potato and my husband would not like to run into him on the street...how bad is that !
I figured that maybe he needed a heart with hugs on it and a kiss and a hug to his backside in hopes that somebody feels sorry for his homely little self and dishes him out some love :)
All digital products to create this layout are from Weeds & Wildflowers.

Via a request for tip on embossing on my canvas project.

I would suggest for your needs to use a Versa Mark pen the fine tip end..no worries on the tapping off...just turn over and give it a thump with your finger ..should clean off pretty easy.

For a hard back Canvas just give it a tap with your knuckle this should do the trick

Also if stamping on a

stretched and mounted canvas, use your hand on the back of the canvas for support when pressing down stamp for a clean image. Hope this helps :)

New Header & Card Reveal

My contribution for the November 16Th DTM Card reveal for Am I a Scrap Addicts "Just My Sketches Blog" .

Using Martha Stewart's Glue Pad and Glitter and Snowflake Stamp by SU, am happy with the results of the glue and glitter for the snowflakes.

My first attempt with a glue pad...very easy way to apply glitter!

Now if I could only find a way to scan glitter and have it look like the original !

Has been awhile since I dabbled in a little digital fun.

I decided, since fall is almost over and the cold winds are blowing down our way from the North Country I would like to do something with a winter theme for my Craft World Header.

Looking thru my Stamps I discovered I really do not have to many that deal just with that season.

With sketch pad in hand I doodled myself some little Winter elements, scanned them into my computer.

Brought them into Photo Shop Elements and created pngs.

Using PSE I colored and created my winter scene.

Card reveal & Fall Family Project Link

November 2ND DTM Cards reveal for Deanne Burton's "Just my Sketches".

My take on the sketch.

For some reason this card bothers me.
Not sure if it's the Scrawny Turkey legs or just to many dark colors.
Would have liked to have redone this card before submitting, just was not enough time.
I do like the wrapping bow and the colorful Turkey feathers though ! :)

Another Card Reveal

October 16 th Card Sketch Reveal on "A Scrap Addict's Sketches" yielded a crop of wonderful cards from the design team.
All so different in their styles and themes if you get a chance follow the link and check out all the fantastic creations created with the sketches.

My card was created for a Thank you to my Mother's cousin up North.
She was so generous to host us as her guests while we were visiting.

I decided to use an apple for my embellishment, in memory of her taking us around to get all our special treats to take back home with us.

Favorite being the wonderful Macintosh Apples that are grown locally.
We have them in my neck of the woods,but they just do not seem to have the same taste that the ones in the cold country produce.

Christmas Cards

Trying to get ahead of the Holiday season .
I have joined in the challenge on "Christmas Cards all Year Long" .

October thru December the goal is to complete 15 different cards before the holiday is upon us.
Usually,I just pick up a kit when I come across one I like and put them all together,choosing a card challenge here and there to throw something different into the mix.

Hopefully this will help me keep ahead of the game with each recipient receiving their own special greeting .
The added bonus is it will help me in my card making skills !

First Card is a combination challenge from two separate blogs.

Guest Sketch Designer Susan Costanza generously donated this weeks sketch.

Second challenge inspiration comes from "Christmas Cards all year Long Blog"
The challenge is to Create a Christmas card using non traditional colors .
My color choice Coral,Grey and Green.
All images are embossed with metallic silver embossing powder.

Sept.15 Card Reveal

Here is my DTM contribution to the September 15 th Sketch Challenge hosted at " Am I a Scrap Addict Sketches" Blog.

Keeping with the Fall theme of my Blogoversary Celebration ( I am almost at a 100 posts !)
I decided to create a Halloween Card with the sketch provided by Deanne Burton.

Thought I would share a few more Pin Cushions that I created ,the weather has been so nice I just had to take myself out to the deck and enjoy the beautiful day...just a bit windy for paper,thought it would be a good time to finish up some of those stocking stuffers!

Challenge # 5 on "Am I Scrap Addict" Blogoversary Party is a layout or a card sketch to choose from for this challenge.

I decided to do the card sketch..I really need the practise ! and also the prize draw is some really nice Cardstock from StampinUp ..lol !

Challenge #2 on "Am I a Scrap Addict" Blogoversary Party.

Create 3 different occasion cards using only one sketch,generously provided by Dea.

This was fun & challenging ,but once the ideas began to flow I could see where I could use this card sketch in many different ways!

Found this great glitter paint by Poly mark at Walmart not a big name product but I am happy with the results it added to my cards and saving a few pennies is also a nice added bonus.

Thanks for the great sketch! Can not wait to see every ones creations!

There is still plenty of time to jump into the fun,all challenges are due by August 30 Th!

"Am I a Scrap Addict"

Summer is Here !

Besides bad Internet connections(not going to go there..Grrrr) life has been busy.
Yard and pool are ready for summer fun...thank goodness,it has been very hot and humid in my neck of the woods.


Have my youngest and wife moved into their first home,in time to be settled for the arrival of their first child.
So excited,my second grandchild and one I can finally get my Grandmother arms wrapped around daily :)!

My first Grandchild Sophia is now learning to walk and talk at the same time!
Dear heart will be one next month so much fun to hear her say Hi with such joy and as loud and proud of herself as she could be !
Videos via cell phone as she takes her first steps!
Modern technology at times can be a curse...but also a blessing!

Preparations are under way to move my Mother down from the snow country to our area.
Will be so nice to have her here and active in our everyday lives.
Hopefully this will all be happening in the month of July.
Busy busy days ahead :)

Celebrated another Birthday and happy to say it is much easier than I thought to ease into this new age bracket :)

Managed to complete a couple of projects in my down time,and have a couple still working on in stages,will post those once finished.

Started a second family heritage book...(three sons must have three books).
I have discovered it is fun to redo a layout and looking forward to future layouts for the second album.
For this lo I used all the scrap pieces I had left over from my Recipe File and Arizona Album.."Waste not Want not".

Applied for May's Monthly "Mystery Envelope Challenge" for Junes reveal at the Sisterhood of Scrap and made my request on time to receive one of the Mystery envelopes.


The challenge to make a card with the products sent...Ughhh... I am sure you all know by now how cards are so difficult for me.
Stared at the small pieces for days but pushing myself I picked this challenge because it was a card.
The end result though I am happy with,it's the mental block I have with cards that drives me crazy ! :)

What fun it was to see all the different types of creations that came out of the pieces sent in the envelopes,all the same products but such different results!

Signed up for a technique class hosted by "WeScrap" class will be taught by Jessica Acs.

This class will run from June 26th thru July 26th I am really looking forward to learning some new ways to use some of my products.

Jessica also has a book soon to be released,stop by her blog "A Spoonful of Sugar" for more information.

Sisterhood of Scrap

With time being so limited for me lately....you know how real life can get in the way,I have been playing around with mostly digital when I can get the chance.

Checking out the Sisterhoodof Scrap to see what they are up to,I found the perfect challenge to get me started.

This weeks challenge 3different PPs and 3 hearts a layout or card,I decided on the card .

For some reason I find cards to be a big challenge for me.I think it is because it is such a small space to work with as opposed to the large space you have when you do a layout.

Still have a long way to go before I am content with my card making attempts...as the old saying goes practice makes perfect :)!

If you have not checked out the Sisterhood lately head on over...the sisters are moving along into bigger and better they now have sponsers and some great challenges...and of course a new sister is featured every week..It may be you next!!

Fun Weekend

What fun was had at the Birthday Celebration hosted at Scrapbook Heaven .

Lot's of fun,games and challenges to choose from.

For me it was all about finding my MoJo for Paper scrapping again.

Since learning digital scrapping this summer I have been devoting

most of my time to learning this type of Scrapbooking and was

finding it hard to get back into my paper,

unless I was working on a craft project.

I did manage to do 4 layouts,2 cards and build a Scrapbook Kit!

The kit was fun to do..next time I place and online order this is the way

I am going to go about it instead of just picking random items that catch my eye.

So a big shout out and Thank you to the DT Members

for putting on such a fun and creative

crop and helping me find MoJo again for Paper LOs.

And a big thank you to all the ScrapBook heaven members of the forum

for a warm welcome...it was a fun time !

Holiday Gift Card Holders

In my home during the Holiday Season all small gift packages

and special envelopes become part a of our families Christmas tree decorations.

BHG's "Creative Collections" Holiday Crafts Magazine 2007 Issue,

featured a stocking gift card designed by One Heart_One Mind

I thought it was a clever idea.

Using the pattern insert that came with my magazine.

I found it very fast and easy to make..creating three cards in a row.

Now that I had the fundamentals down for this card ..time to add my own twist.

The pattern called for covering both sides of a Stocking chipboard shape with Paper of your choosing....I used instead for my stocking a cardboard insert that came from my 4X6 Photo Paper Pack.

Punched 2 small holes on the top left inside of gift card to add ribbon for hanging.

You can use your favorite Stocking & gift card envelope templates to create this card.

Sketch "N" Scrap

Texas Hold'em Challenge...Jacqueline was holding a diamond flush...WTG!! on the flush Jacqueline!

The sisters also have a fun Card sketch posted for Sketch Saturday.

Working on a project this week I still had my pile of little scraps sitting on my desk..thought I would put them to use and give the card sketch a try.

I like to make up my own paper piecing patterns...but for some reason I find animals to be a bit

of a challenge for me.

Happy to report this one came together very easy with the help of Basic Grey (un)Dressed chipboard...made for a perfect set of Antlers.
