It rather denotes a lack of courage."

Hello,Scrappers and Crafters!
Unable to post for the last couple of days, due to no Internet connection, the rain finally fell here and took some of the humidity out of the air and turned my connection back on! WooHoo!!

I would like to celebrate my one year blog and upcoming 100Th post with a challenge for all who would like to give it a try.

It is my way of saying thank you for all the wonderful products I have received over the past couple of years, thru various challenges on blogs and boards that I have participated in.

I have not decided yet on how I will draw a name,I would like to check into a random generator,or all who participate will have there names in a hat and be drawn.
Okay,on to the challenge.
This challenge is open to all who would like to give it a try !

For those of you who visit my blog on a regular basis, you know by now that fall is my favorite time of the year.

I love everything about this season...need I say more? :)

For your challenge I would like to have you share your favorite fall layout, project, card, tip or recipe that has to do with the season. That's it!

The prize will be this fun little Halloween kit of Martha Stewart products I have put together for you.

Don't you just love that Stamp!! I thought it was so much fun!
Good luck to all who give this a try...just post in the comment of this post,so we can all go and see what fun ideas you have to share!

Stitches & Sketches

Second part of week 2 Technique Classes 101 is all in the stitching.

To go along with this challenge ,I also used the inspiration Saturday Sketch found at the "Sisterhood of Scrap".

Sketch designer is Jodie Kautzner, you may also find some of Jodie's sketches here at http://sketchitout.blogspot.com/.

Have wanted to scrap this photo of my grandmother for some time now-for me it captures my Grandmother's creative side.

She was always working on some project or another and made it a point to make sure her daughters and granddaughters all had some knowledge in the finer arts of keeping house and making it fun.
Thru the years my family have all been recipients of my Grandmothers wonderful craft work.

For this challenge we are to stitch and faux stitch on to our layouts, this is my end result.
Thanks for stopping by !

Frame it !

I found this frame at the Dollar Store, could not resist picking up a few for future projects, how can you resist a dollar, very inexpensive craft project.

The four plastic insert frames are removed and replaced with a 6x 6 mini layout.
I kept the lumpy embellishments to a minimum so that the glass front would be able to set back into place.
My dear friend's granddaughter turned one, some of you may remember Emily, she is now one years old and such a cutie!

Happy first Birthday Emily!XXOO

"Sisterhood of Scrap" Blog Party Challenge Day 2

Hi Party Gamers !
Hope you are all having a fun time with the game challenges hosted by the "Sisterhood of Scrap's" Anniversary Blog Party.
Congratulations Sisters on your first Anniversary looking forward to the coming year !!

One of my favorite childhood games to play, was jump rope.
The fun involved 2 twirlers and one jumper.
The jumper would sing a skipping song, as she sang, the twirlers would speed up the pace as the song progressed.
The object,to be able to skip steady till the song was complete,if unable, next up would be a twirler.
The one with the most jumps would have the honors of taking the skipping rope home till the next challenge.

Here is my game challenge for you in honor of skipping rope
jump Rope/must use fiber
3 Players/must use three photos
Skipping song/must use a Song Title for lo or a verse from a song.

The little cutie in my layout example is my Grandniece Hannah.

I also combined this weeks sketch challenge at the sisterhood with my crop challenge.Don't you just love mixing challenges!

Sketch creator Sally Saenz.

Sketch Challenges at the Sisterhood of Scrap

My hubby

I have been trying to pick challenges, that will fit in some time to play with my papers and stash. Learning digital Scrap booking has been using up my spare time for creating, and my poor Scrapbook supplies have been crying out to me to come play.

Digital is so much fun to learn and create with plus no mess, but you know..sometimes a women just has to get dirty.

I love the papers from Cosmo Cricket "Halfway Cafe" that I have used for this sketch challenge, this collection works so well with Patriotic layouts.

With only a full sheet left and some scraps,I pieced it all together to make this sketch work for me.(I really need to order some more of this paper before I can no longer find it )

Posted on the Sisterhood of Scrap every Sat. you can find a featured Sketch designer Challenge.

I like to use sketches when I am in a time crunch..it is one less step in the planing.

This weeks designer on the Sisterhood of Scrap is Cherie Averill ,this is the first time I have tried her sketches and was very pleased with the way it all flowed together.Plenty of freedom to give it my own personal touch.

Check out this weeks sketch challenge at the Sisterhood and Cherie's Blog "Sketches-R-Us"you will not be disappointed in this lady's work.

The Sisters are always looking for new sketch designers to feature,if you like to sketch why not stop by and let the sisters know you are interested in contributing.

While you are visiting the Sisters take note that they will be celebrating their one year Anniversary very soon,so keep your eyes open for further details.

Goodie Bag Challenge
Digital Challenge

Sketch Challenge

Progressive Page Challenge
Monochromatic Challenge
Poem for Mono challenge

iScrap had a fun crop this weekend. So many inspiring challenges, but of course there was no way I would be able to do them all.
I believe I must be a very slow scrapper.

Have to to give it up to some of the women, they were able to do almost all the challenges,if not all !! Three cheers ladies I am in awe!

I usually average between 5 & 6 of the challenges and am content with that..I have my limits :)

There was also some make & takes that are on my to do list..one in particular is a flower box posted by Cami...so cute for the Easter table..Have my project prepped and am moving slowly on this...my camera is broke ...so no way was I able to have it ready for the crop (no photo to post).
here is a link to the project if you would like to give it a try!
Thanks Cami!! that was a fun project!

Digital Freebie "Doodle Garden"

Such beautiful spring like weather we have been having, the last few days in my neck of the woods.
After some much needed yard work was completed,a well deserved cup of tea in hand along with my sketch pad,I headed to the picnic table to enjoy the rest of what was left of a beautiful day.

Here are a few doodles I came up with while I took advantage of the moment and pondered on what surprises my garden holds for me this year.

If you would like you may find Doodle Garden here.

A small credit to JeanMarie's Digital would be much appreciated.TY!

Working with damaged photos

This photo of my middle son has been one of my favorites of him for years..I love how it captured his fun nature...but alas thru time and those darn magnetic albums they sold us years ago...there is much discoloration and dark spots.

I cleaned it up the best I could in PS,erased some of the worst of the worn spots, turned it into a sketch then an overlay.
Pleased with the look I decided it was still scrapbook material, here is the end result.

Now that I have tried this I feel happy in knowing that some of the worst may still be usable.

Mixing Challenges

I don't know why but rarely do I mix challenges..I like to focus on the challenge at hand.

But this layout had all the makings of three different challenges.

Challenge #1 iScraps Feb. embellishment challenge buttons 10 or more

Challenge#2 Sisterhood of Scrap Sat Sketch Challenge

"Elegant Dancer Sketch" by Jolene Pienaar

Challenge #3 ScrapDigiStyle Feb Tweak it Challenge (using the burn tool & playing with brightness and contrast)

Mixing the kits up and using different elements from her other kits is always fun with Scrappy Cats Designs and produces a great result.

Digital Freebie Kit

This week has been all about learning to create digital paper.

Soooo...tada !! ;) (silly,I know) .....here is my first set of Digital Papers.

So many helpful tutorials are available on the web to help you sort thru this process, this is the tutorial I decided to use to help guide me.

I began this paper with a couple of photographs I had taken of my garden, followed the tutorial and this is the end result.

Brads are also created from using the Paper only distorted to look like stone.

I have always admired the works of those who could paint or draw and wished that I had the ability to create what I see on canvas with paint and brushes...but sorry to say I do not have that type of artistic talent.

I have tried and it was brutal to say the least.

What freedom I found, learning how to create digital paper.

By the time I was done with the process,I walked away with the feeling that if I did have that type of hands on artistic abilities, this is what I would have created from my image.

Here is an example lo from "Lily Kit" using also a Doodle Vine frame from my "Doodle Vines Kit" featuring my lovely dil.

Special Credits:

DigiScrapDepot/ WordArt#17 "Freedom"by ALFP

Font:SA Inkspot

I tend to be drawn to deep earth tone colors so these papers may not be suited to every ones taste....but ..if you would like you may find the download link for Lily Kit below.

If you try Lily please stop back and leave a link to your creations..would like to leave a little love :)

And please a small credit to JeanMarie Digitals would be appreciated,Thanks so much.

Digital Freebie

WoooHoooo!

So excited to be able to share,my first of hopefully many more to come.

After a self imposed week of learning about pngs, brushes and sharing I am able to share with you some digital elements I have created. I have also added the original pngs without color to suit your own needs
I am fascinated by the shapes and textures of trees and vines ,so much movement yet so deeply rooted in there stand against the elements.

"Doodle Vines"by JeanMarie may be found here
If you give "Doodle Vines" a try stop back by "Welcome to my Craft World" and leave a link,so I can view your creations and leave a little love!
So kind if you could leave a credit to JeanMarie Digitals,Thanks so much :)

Sisterhood of Scrap

With time being so limited for me lately....you know how real life can get in the way,I have been playing around with mostly digital when I can get the chance.

Checking out the Sisterhoodof Scrap to see what they are up to,I found the perfect challenge to get me started.

This weeks challenge 3different PPs and 3 hearts a layout or card,I decided on the card .

For some reason I find cards to be a big challenge for me.I think it is because it is such a small space to work with as opposed to the large space you have when you do a layout.

Still have a long way to go before I am content with my card making attempts...as the old saying goes practice makes perfect :)!

If you have not checked out the Sisterhood lately head on over...the sisters are moving along into bigger and better they now have sponsers and some great challenges...and of course a new sister is featured every week..It may be you next!!

Playing with Digital Brushes

Well it took awhile...but I finally started playing with digital brushes in my PS.

With some inspiration from here to try my hand with my own hand drawn doodles and a mini tutorial from Scrapbook Etc. Feb/March 2007 issue I gave it a go.

Working with an older program of PSE 2,had to play around abit with the tutorial to find what would work for me.

drew my doodles on clean white Sketch book paper with black marker

scanned at 300dpi and saved to folder

opened folder in my PSE

ticked edit and define brush

name brush and save.

This is my lo using my own digi doodles..lot's of fun.. look forward to learning more about digital brushes.
