Spring is in the Air

Finally the sun has been shining the temperature rising and the snow melting.
Spring is in the air!
Cleaning up the yard and raking out the flower beds have been the priority for the last week.

While waiting for the snow to melt I have been working on a few crafty and scrapbook projects in my free time.

Something new for me has been ATC cards.
I never real understood what is the purpose of an ATC card besides a way of introducing yourself in Craft and Art circles.

I discovered they are a fun way to mix and try out different techniques on a smaller scale.

My first ATC (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) I was really pleased with until after it's completion.

I discovered that I should have done a little googling to discover the ins and outs of ATC's.
First mistake I left out all designer information!
2ND mistake ...I misquoted the quote!!
3rd mistake I submitted it into a challenge!!!!!
So for all those who are interested in trying an ATC for the first time here is a link
explaining the basic rules of ATC.

All in all I am happy again, by slapping a magnet to the back, I have redeemed myself by turning my mistakes into a refrigerator magnet!!

Vintage ATC #1 "Dancer"

This next ATC was created for a RAK Challenge posted on the "Sisterhood of Scrap".

With a little more of an understanding on ATCs and feeling a little more confident .This little project came together without a hitch!
Using free vintage images from the Graphics Fairy (link in the right hand sidebar).

Vintage ATC #2 "Secret Garden".

I discovered they really are fun to create. If nothing else they can come in handy as a visual reference for different techniques.
They are also a great way to fill the need to create when the desire hits you but your time is limited.
They can be as simple or complex as you would like, no wrong or right...just a few simple rules to follow.

I also managed to complete 5 new Scrapbook layouts during the Winter Olympics
by participating in the "Olympic Crop" that was hosted by the "Sisterhood of Scrap".
Great fun to watch the Olympics while having your own challenges to complete.
If you would like to check them out they may be found here.

If you are in the mood for a Challenge all March Challenges have been posted for the "Sisterhood of Scrap" links may be found here.

Also tomorrow the Sisters will be hosting their One Hour sketch Challenge .
Beginning at 7:00 pm EST you will have until 8:00 pm to complete and post on the forum by 8:20 pm. Great fun and a real challenge!!!
Also you have a chance at a wonderful and generous prize!

Don't forget to stop by Create It-Green Blog on March 15Th for the design Team Reveal. You will find many ways to recycle ,up cycle and refurbish everyday items into your creative process.

Thanks for stopping by :)

Thanksgiving Tree,Recipe Layouts & Scrapbook Layouts

Has been awhile since I posted any projects I have been working on.
Thought I would share with you my most recent.

First up is a Thanksgiving decoration created for the upcoming Holiday.

I also created this tree for a call on a new Green Blog, called CREATE IT-GREEN.
All submissions must be in by the 20Th of November if you are interested in being part of the DT.

Using an empty cookie tin, some jute and dried fern for my base.
Leaves from an old Fall garland that had seen better days, glued to a Styrofoam tree and a piece of dowel painted left over from an early project.
Styrofoam that came in a package to stuff my tin and hold tree in place.

Next up Some Recipe Cards for Recipe Card Challenge Blog.
thought I gave up on this one didn't you? LOL ...just sort of got sidetracked for awhile...but no, ready to get down to business and get that recipe box filled up.

This cake is so yummy!!!! has been around for years. Thought maybe you new mothers and wives out there might not have heard of it and would like to give it a try...makes for a fast and tasty treat when company comes calling.

A favorite morning breakfast for a cold and snowy day...will stay with you all morning.

Next 2 layouts were created for Challenges posted on the Sisterhood of Scrap Blog / Forum.
My sweet little Grand daughter Sophia as Snow White this Halloween.
Monday's Challenge on the SOS was an Inspiration Challenge.
This layout was created for the Saturday Soup Challenge on the Sisterhood of Scrap.
Took a trip up North to visit family.
My cousin and I took a road trip in search of our Colonial ancestors. Searching for the churches they had attended and cemeteries theywere buried in.
What an adventure and a privilege to be able to share with her.
We were also lucky enough to find the road they had first settled on after coming to America.
You may see some of these places in this post with a video I created.

Well, that's it for now.
Thanks for stopping by My Crafty World.
Wishing you all a great weekend :)

Recipe and Crop Challenges

Ever have one of those weeks where it blends right into the next?
That's how it has been going for me.
Chasing myself all over the place : )

A little late posting last weeks "Recipe Card Challenge" ....but, better late than never!
The recipe challenge,
a recipe for a Sack lunch.
My take on this challenge is Snack Mix. Yum ...Yum ...don't leave home without it !
This weeks Challenge has been posted, if you would like to give it a go.

Okay, so you know that the Sisterhood of Scrap hosted a weekend Crop , the theme "Back to School".
You still have plenty of time to get some of those photos Scrapped and posted .
Here are a couple that I have finished so far.
Need to get in gear and see if I can get started on another today!

Without giving to many details on the challenges ( You'll just have to stop by and see for yourself all the Great Challenges posted).

This first layout is a Reduce Challenge ....My Great Grandmother.

This one is a Title Challenge.
My 2 Grand Daughters...singing the Lolly pop song.

Back to the Basics

One of the challenges for September hosted by Creatively- Green is "Back to the Basics".

The challenge is to use 80% Card stock on your layout...no Patterned Papers and no more than 20% of any other embellishment than card stock.

It felt great to sit down with limited supplies to create a layout.

It brought back memories of the days when I had very few scrapbook products and no knowledge of the Scrapbook communities and products that are available online.

Whatever would I embellish with !!! I guess my imagination would just have to figure it out.

This is the end result...pretty flowers that grow in my garden..my 2 Grand daughters.

For the first time in years ...I was able to celebrate my Birthday this year with all my children , their wives and my 2 Grand daughters.
ahhhhhh.....the memories....isn't that what it's all about : )

Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a nice day :)

Oh yes !!! Halloween is almost upon us...are you ready ???

Inspiration Challenge Goes Green

It has been some time since I have worked on a Scrapbook layout and have really been feeling the urge to get one done.

I thought it might be fun to try one of my favorite type of challenges and see if I could incorporate "Going Green " into it .
The Sisterhood of Scrap posted an Inspiration Challenge for Monday Aug.24 .

Create a layout inspired by an article of clothing.
My inspiration came from my Grand daughters shirt that she wore one day this week.

Such a sweetheart...she took her first steps this week !!! Fun stuff !!

Using cardboard inserts from a pack of photo paper to create my chipboard flowers and flourishes.
Using the negative space, from a pack of chipboard shapes I had used previously.

I hope you have enjoyed this months projects for "Going Green". Thanks Deanne for hosting this month long challenge !! I have discovered so many creative ways to "Craft My Trash" from all your wonderful projects.

There is still time to try out one of Deanne's Challenges for a chance to win a set of stamps, she is generously offering.

Good luck to you all !!!
Thanks for stopping by : )

"Camping Out" Chili Recipe Layout

This weeks "Recipe Card Challenge Blog " layout...the great outdoors !

Very easy Chili recipe that tastes better as the night gets colder and the campfire brighter.
May be easily adjusted for the amount of folks you have warming up by your fire.

When no one is watching I try to substitute Ground Turkey for ground beef....just as tasty ; )

Thanks for stopping by : )

Christmas Dishes in July

Recipe Card Challenge for this week is all about Christmas themed Recipe layouts!
The big meal for the day on Christmas at my house, is Brunch followed by tasty appetizers through the day.
With a traditional Dinner of Italian Dishes on Christmas Eve there is never a want for something to eat.
This leaves the day open for me to enjoy the fellowship of family and friends.

This recipe is prepared the night before and placed in the refrigerator and popped in the oven as soon as my feet hit the floor on Christmas morning.
By the time everyone is waking up the house is filled with the most wonderful smell.

One of my favorite and easy recipes to put together is Sausage & Egg Casserole..fast and easy to prepare.
Also may be adjusted easily for the amount of folks who will be enjoying breakfast with you on Christmas morning.
No fuss no muss ...my kind of cooking and tasty to boot!!
This layout is a digital Hybrid , digital wreath credit "Serenity Blue" Holly Berries Kit.

One of the many appetizers for the day, Easy Peasy Sweet & Sour Meatballs.
You may use frozen Meatballs in a bag, if you would like to cut back on time preparation.I tend to use them as we enjoy homemade meatballs with our Christmas Eve dinner.( for a change of taste)
Just make sure you thaw them first.
I created this recipe card using some leftover elements from a Christmas Card kit I had purchased a few years back.
That's it for today.
If you would like a closer look at the recipes just click on the pictures.
Thanks for stopping by my Craft World and have a Crafty Day :).

My take on the challenge is one of my families favorite Muffins.
They are super moist and tasty muffins, just make sure your Bananas are over ripe!
I also like to add nuts ,raisins & a dash of cinnamon to to this recipe for a change of pace.
Bon appetit !!
Edited ...sorry, I misspelled Raisins in my recipe...oh well not one of my stronger traits : )

Summer is Here !

Besides bad Internet connections(not going to go there..Grrrr) life has been busy.
Yard and pool are ready for summer fun...thank goodness,it has been very hot and humid in my neck of the woods.

Have my youngest and wife moved into their first home,in time to be settled for the arrival of their first child.
So excited,my second grandchild and one I can finally get my Grandmother arms wrapped around daily :)!

My first Grandchild Sophia is now learning to walk and talk at the same time!
Dear heart will be one next month so much fun to hear her say Hi with such joy and as loud and proud of herself as she could be !
Videos via cell phone as she takes her first steps!
Modern technology at times can be a curse...but also a blessing!

Preparations are under way to move my Mother down from the snow country to our area.
Will be so nice to have her here and active in our everyday lives.
Hopefully this will all be happening in the month of July.
Busy busy days ahead :)

Celebrated another Birthday and happy to say it is much easier than I thought to ease into this new age bracket :)

Managed to complete a couple of projects in my down time, and have a couple still working on in stages, will post those once finished.

Started a second family heritage book...(three sons must have three books).
I have discovered it is fun to redo a layout and looking forward to future layouts for the second album.
For this lo I used all the scrap pieces I had left over from my Recipe File and Arizona Album.."Waste not Want not".

Applied for May's Monthly "Mystery Envelope Challenge" for Junes reveal at the Sisterhood of Scrap and made my request on time to receive one of the Mystery envelopes.

The challenge to make a card with the products sent...Ughhh... I am sure you all know by now how cards are so difficult for me.
Stared at the small pieces for days but pushing myself I picked this challenge because it was a card.
The end result though I am happy with,it's the mental block I have with cards that drives me crazy ! :)

What fun it was to see all the different types of creations that came out of the pieces sent in the envelopes, all the same products but such different results!

Stop by and check out all the wonderful creations here.

Don't forget to keep your eyes open for the next call for the Monthly "Mystery Envelope Challenge" at the Sisterhood of Scrap and join in the fun!
While you are there you can check out all the other daily challenges and fun that are happening with the Sisters.
Also excited to say that I am the recipient of the May Submission Challenge for May on the Sisterhood of Scrap Blog.
